Amazing morning in Dubai, with Bruno Senna, Anderson Silva and former Corinthians player William enjoying Beach Soccer
The Beach Soccer Stadium in Festival City received this morning a very special visit: the F1 Williams Renault pilot Bruno Senna, the UFC World Champion Anderson Silva and the former Corinthians captain William Machado the Oliveira came down to the pitch to enjoy Beach Soccer action with the Brazilian National Team. In an action organized by Gillette and Duracell, Bruno Malias, Benjamin, Sidney, André, Mão and Leandro taught the three sports stars the tricks of the sport: how to chip a ball, how to kick it on the sand, and many other moves, to end up challenging each other in a really funny penalty kick contest.
Besides having a great time, and making jokes with the six Brazilian players, the three star sportmen highlighted how technically and physically demanding beach soccer is. Bruno Senna, for example, said that “I take my hat off in front of these players. They are true professionals who train really hard and do great in a really difficult sport. You need a lot of technique and strength to play at that level. It is just amazing what they are capable of doing”. The Williams pilot, who flew straight back to Abu Dhabi for the F1 training sessions, was really happy after a ‘different’ morning for him: “I am quite more racing-oriented, but I absolutely enjoyed it”
At the same time, the fighter Anderson Silva, who did not stop smiling and making jokes with everyone during the whole activity, pointed that weather conditions is something really hard to fight against: “To be down here giving your best under the heavy sun, fighting for every space in the field, it is just awesome.” In addition, The Spider, as he is popularly known in the Ultimate Fight Championship where he is the undoubtedly king, assured to be a football passionate, and admitted that he usually plays on the beach with his friends on his spare time.
Moreover, former Corinthians defender Williams, with more than 300 games in Brazilian professional league, points out that, without a heavy training, you cannot play Beach Soccer at an international level. ”You need a very specific preparation to play at such high level of Beach Soccer. Most of the professional top-flight football players would not succeed in the beach without a proper formation. I see it impossible for me, for example!”, he admitted.
After facing the difficulties of the sand, the experience proved great for them three, as they assured they will get to play Beach Soccer whenever they can, now that the masters of the sport have teach them the secrets of the ball…
